Snowbound Expo, a fixture in the East Coast winter sports calendar for more than four decades, is relocating permanently to the Earth Expo & Convention Centre at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. The event will take place on 14–15 November 2026, marking a strategic shift from its long-time Boston home. Organisers anticipate attracting over 23,000 attendees, including athletes, industry leaders, and winter sports enthusiasts, to launch the 2026–27 season.

Why Mohegan Sun?

The move to Mohegan Sun offers exhibitors a purpose-built venue with extensive amenities, including on-site lodging, dining, and entertainment. The expo has been condensed from three days to two, allowing brands to focus on sales and partnership development while reducing operational costs. Kim Simone, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Mohegan Sun, described the relocation as “a huge addition to our line-up of major conventions and expo events.”

Current partners include Subaru of New England, Ikon Pass, and Colorado Ski Shop, with additional sponsors expected to join ahead of the 2026 edition. The expo’s marketing campaign is projected to generate over three million digital and PR impressions, providing high visibility for participating brands.

Attractions will include the Après-Party After Hours, Ice Coast Rail Jam, and The Big Slope, alongside appearances from Olympic champion Jessie Diggins and snowboarder Travis Rice. These features aim to create engaging experiences for both trade visitors and consumers.

For travel professionals, the event represents a key opportunity to connect with regional and destination ski resorts, as well as to preview new products ahead of the winter season. The streamlined format is designed to maximise efficiency for exhibitors, a consideration that resonates with the broader MICE sector’s push toward shorter, more impactful events.

Mohegan Sun’s venue, which includes the Earth Expo & Convention Centre, is well-suited for large-scale trade shows and consumer expos. The property’s integrated resort model—combining convention space with hotel rooms, restaurants, and entertainment—mirrors trends seen in other major MICE destinations. For context, similar synergies have been explored in other markets, such as Tuscaloosa County’s sports tourism growth, where venue investment drives visitor spending.

Tickets for Snowbound Expo 2026 will go on sale in September 2026. The event’s relocation underscores a broader trend of consumer and trade shows seeking venues that offer comprehensive experiences for attendees and exhibitors alike. As the winter sports industry continues to evolve, the expo’s new home at Mohegan Sun positions it to serve as a central gathering point for the sector.

For tour operators and travel agents specialising in ski holidays, the expo provides a direct line to resorts and equipment brands. The condensed format also aligns with the preferences of busy professionals, echoing insights from industry leaders like Scott Dunn’s Alison Zacher, who emphasises the value of human expertise in luxury travel. Meanwhile, the event’s marketing reach offers a platform for smaller brands to gain exposure alongside major players.

Mohegan Sun’s existing infrastructure—including its convention centre, hotels, and entertainment options—makes it a competitive choice for event organisers. The venue’s ability to host large gatherings while providing a self-contained environment for attendees is a key selling point, particularly for events that blend trade and consumer elements.
