Warner Bros. World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, has introduced its first new permanent attraction since the park opened in 2018: the Kryptonite Collider. The ride, which opened to the public on 26 July 2026, is located in the Metropolis section and invites guests to step into the role of test subjects in Lex Luthor's Everyman Project.
The experience begins in a detailed LexCorp laboratory, where riders are briefed on Luthor's experiment using kryptonite — Superman's only weakness. Once aboard, a centrifuge-style motion system combined with dynamic visuals and synchronised lighting creates what the park describes as an immersive simulation of unlocking superhuman abilities. At the end of the ride, interactive displays reveal each guest's newly acquired 'superpowers'.
Hind Galadari, General Manager of Warner Bros. World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, said: "Kryptonite Collider is a real milestone for Warner Bros. World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, bringing one of DC's most iconic Super-Villains to life through an experience that places our guests at the heart of his story."
The ride's debut coincides with the DC Super Hero Season, running until 30 August, which includes live entertainment and character encounters. The park was recently honoured with the 2026 Liseberg Applause Award, recognising it as the Best Theme Park in the World — a first for a Middle Eastern attraction. Kryptonite Collider is included with standard park admission.
Implications for Abu Dhabi's Tourism and MICE Sector
The addition of a major new ride at Warner Bros. World strengthens Yas Island's position as a multi-attraction destination for both leisure travellers and business events. The island already hosts Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and the Yas SeaWorld Research Centre, which recently hosted a screening of the documentary 'Ocean' with a producer of Sir David Attenborough's series. For MICE planners, the expanded offering provides a fresh incentive for corporate groups and conference delegates, particularly as Abu Dhabi continues to bid for large-scale events such as the IMF-World Bank meetings, which Bangkok recently secured for 2026.
The park's recognition with the Liseberg Applause Award also elevates its profile among international tour operators and travel agents, who can now market Warner Bros. World as the world's top-ranked theme park. The award, named after Sweden's Liseberg amusement park, is judged by industry peers and has previously been won by parks such as Europa-Park and Efteling.
For hoteliers on Yas Island — including properties such as the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, and the upcoming Makers Hotel — the new ride adds another reason for families and DC fans to extend their stays. The park's integration with the broader Yas Island ecosystem, which includes the Yas Marina Circuit and Abu Dhabi International Airport, makes it a convenient stop for transit passengers and long-haul visitors alike.
Travel agents and tour operators should note that the Kryptonite Collider is included in standard park admission, making it a straightforward add-on for existing itineraries. The DC Super Hero Season also offers opportunities for themed packages and group bookings.
As the Middle East's theme park sector continues to expand, Warner Bros. World's investment in a new ride signals confidence in the region's ability to draw international visitors. With the park now holding the Liseberg Applause Award, the competition among Gulf destinations to host major attractions is likely to intensify.
