The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has unveiled a suite of Diwali travel packages designed to lure Indian holidaymakers to the emirate. With flight times of just three to four hours from major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, Abu Dhabi is positioning itself as a convenient festive escape. The itineraries range from compact weekend breaks to immersive weeklong family adventures, blending cultural landmarks, entertainment venues, and natural attractions.

Short breaks: Yas Island in two days

For travellers short on time, a two-day itinerary focuses on Yas Island, the emirate's entertainment hub. Guests can experience high-thrill rides at Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, shop at Yas Mall, and unwind along the Yas Bay Waterfront. This compact package is tailored for those seeking a quick festive recharge without extensive travel logistics.

Four-day cultural immersion

A four-day trip expands the scope to include Abu Dhabi's cultural icons. Highlights include the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the opulent Emirates Palace, and the Saadiyat Cultural District, home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi. This itinerary appeals to travellers interested in architecture, art, and heritage, offering a deeper dive into the emirate's identity.

Weeklong adventures: culture meets nature

For a comprehensive Diwali holiday, the weeklong package combines Yas Island's attractions with cultural sites such as the Zayed National Museum. Beyond the city, travellers can embark on a desert safari at Al Wathba Fossil Dunes Reserve, explore the historic Al Ain Oasis, and paddle through the mangroves at Jubail Mangrove Park. This itinerary caters to families and adventure seekers alike, showcasing Abu Dhabi's diverse landscapes.

DCT Abu Dhabi's strategy is to strengthen the emirate's position as a leading international destination, leveraging its blend of culture, innovation, and hospitality. The department is promoting these packages through its official channels, encouraging travellers to plan their Diwali getaway. The move aligns with broader efforts to boost Indian inbound tourism, a key market for the UAE.

Abu Dhabi's push comes as other destinations and hospitality players ramp up Diwali offerings. For instance, OZEN Collection is bringing Diwali festivities to two Maldives private islands, while Novotel Visakhapatnam has launched Diwali hampers for festive gifting. The competition for Indian travellers during the festival season is intensifying, with airlines like LOT Polish Airlines offering Diwali fare sales from Delhi to Europe.

For travel agents and tour operators, Abu Dhabi's Diwali packages present an opportunity to upsell clients on a destination that combines family-friendly attractions with cultural depth. The emirate's accessibility from India, coupled with its year-round sunshine and world-class infrastructure, makes it a compelling option for the festive period. As Diwali 2026 draws global travellers, Abu Dhabi's proactive approach could yield significant returns.

The tourism board's focus on diverse itineraries—from adrenaline-fueled theme park days to serene nature excursions—ensures there is something for every traveller profile. Whether it's a quick shopping and thrill-seeking break or a leisurely exploration of heritage and ecology, Abu Dhabi is betting on its versatility to capture a larger share of the Diwali travel market.
