Amadeus has strengthened its hotel distribution portfolio with two new capabilities aimed at leisure travel sellers, addressing the fragmentation that has long complicated the sector. The enhancements, delivered through Amadeus Leisure Connect Plus and Amadeus Value Hotels, are powered by a strategic tie-up with HyperGuest, a cloud-native platform that earned a spot on Phocuswire’s Hot 25 Travel Start-Ups list.
Streamlining private-rate management
Leisure Connect Plus now enables travel sellers to manage and distribute their private hotel agreements more efficiently via the Amadeus Travel Platform. The integration taps into more than 150 channel managers through real-time APIs, cutting onboarding times and speeding up content distribution while preserving control over commercial strategies. This move aligns with the industry’s broader shift toward modern retailing and multi-source models in the leisure hotel space.
For tour operators and agents juggling multiple supplier contracts, the new workflow reduces manual intervention and helps maintain rate parity across channels. The ability to push negotiated rates directly to the platform means less friction for back-office teams and faster time-to-market for new inventory.
Expanding inventory with Value Hotels
Amadeus Value Hotels, enhanced by HyperGuest connectivity, now includes an additional 15,000 independent properties. This expansion not only broadens the available hotel stock but also enriches the content associated with each property, giving travel sellers more granular data to personalise and merchandise offers. For independent hotels, the partnership offers a low-cost route to global distribution without the need for direct integration with every GDS or booking engine.
The added inventory is particularly relevant for leisure-focused agencies and tour operators serving markets where independent hotels dominate, such as southern Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. With richer descriptions, photos, and amenity details, sellers can better match properties to traveller preferences, improving conversion rates.
Industry reaction
Claire Matanda, Head of Ecommerce & Digital Development at Abbey Group, welcomed the development. “Amadeus Leisure Connect Plus provides an elegant solution to distribution cycle fragmentation, enabling us to scale our strategy whilst maintaining control,” she said.
Mirja Sickel, Executive Vice President of Hospitality Distribution at Amadeus, emphasised the strategic importance of the partnership. “This collaboration reflects our multi-source hotel distribution strategy and prepares the industry for a future where AI plays a significant role in travel product discovery and selection,” she noted.
Implications for the travel trade
For leisure travel sellers, the new capabilities mean access to a wider range of properties, more flexible rate management, and improved tools for merchandising. Hotels, in turn, gain extended reach into Amadeus’s global network of agents and tour operators, potentially boosting occupancy in off-peak periods.
The move also signals Amadeus’s continued investment in hospitality distribution, a segment that has seen increasing competition from direct booking initiatives and alternative GDS players. By partnering with a nimble startup like HyperGuest, Amadeus is positioning itself to adapt quickly to changing market dynamics.
As the travel industry increasingly relies on technology to streamline operations, such integrations are likely to become more common. For agents, the ability to offer a broader, more detailed hotel portfolio without sacrificing efficiency could be a differentiator in a crowded market.
