ATPCO, the airline industry's leading data and distribution platform, has appointed Rosario Phillips as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. Phillips, who serves as Vice President of Passenger Solutions at LATAM Airlines Group, brings more than two decades of experience in digital transformation across the airline sector.

Phillips has been a key driver of LATAM's digital strategy, focusing on leveraging data and technology to improve customer experience and commercial performance. Her appointment signals ATPCO's deepening commitment to artificial intelligence and modern retailing capabilities.

Aligning with ATPCO's AI-First Strategy

Phillips will collaborate closely with ATPCO's President and CEO, Brett Burgess, who joined the company earlier this year with a mandate to position ATPCO at the forefront of AI-powered airline retailing. Burgess praised Phillips' appointment, stating, "Her strategic vision and understanding of both the commercial and technology dimensions of our industry are exactly what ATPCO needs."

In her new role, Phillips will help guide ATPCO's product roadmap and industry partnerships as airlines increasingly adopt dynamic pricing, personalized offers, and real-time distribution models. The company's data infrastructure underpins pricing and shopping for carriers including LATAM, British Airways, and Air Canada.

"The airline industry is undergoing one of the most exciting transformations in its history, and ATPCO is at the centre of it," Phillips said. She expressed enthusiasm for advancing the future of airline retailing and distribution alongside the ATPCO leadership team.

Phillips succeeds Karen Slinger, who has moved to a new role at British Airways. ATPCO also welcomed two new board members: Alison Short from Air Canada and Peter-Paul Vet from KLM, strengthening the board's expertise in revenue management and network planning.

The appointments come as ATPCO expands its AI-driven tools for airlines, including offer optimization and dynamic pricing engines. The company's platform processes billions of fare records daily, serving carriers, GDS systems like Amadeus and Sabre, and travel agents worldwide.

For travel professionals, Phillips' leadership signals a continued push toward data-centric retailing. Airlines that leverage ATPCO's AI capabilities can better tailor offers to travelers, improve ancillaries, and compete in an increasingly fragmented distribution landscape. The move also aligns with broader industry trends, such as the recent appointment of Malaysia Aviation Group CEO Captain Nasaruddin to the IATA Board of Governors, reflecting the industry's focus on strategic governance.

As ATPCO deepens its AI investments, hoteliers and tour operators may also benefit from similar data-driven retailing approaches. The travel technology sector is watching closely, as ATPCO's innovations often set benchmarks for the entire travel ecosystem.
