Celestyal is moving beyond its traditional Eastern Mediterranean stronghold with a new Western Mediterranean season that emphasizes cultural immersion and extended port stays. The cruise line, known for its all-inclusive boutique approach, will deploy the Celestyal Discovery on a series of itineraries designed to appeal to travelers seeking authenticity over crowded tourist circuits.

Mediterranean Odyssey: Spain, Portugal & Morocco

The flagship 14-night voyage, Mediterranean Odyssey: Spain, Portugal & Morocco, departs from Barcelona (via Tarragona) and Lisbon, with overnight stays in both cities. The itinerary includes 14 maiden calls, signaling a deliberate move away from recycled routes. Ports such as Sète in southern France offer a less commercialized alternative to the region's busier harbors.

Celestyal's expansion into the Western Mediterranean is a strategic response to growing demand for slower, more meaningful travel experiences. The line's extended port stays allow guests to explore destinations after day-trippers have departed, a feature that sets these sailings apart from traditional Mediterranean cruises.

Flexible Itinerary Options

Celestyal offers several ways to experience the new region:

  • Full 14-night Mediterranean Odyssey voyage
  • Two 7-night segments between Barcelona and Lisbon
  • 8-night Mediterranean Riviera repositioning sailings from Athens to Barcelona

Travelers can combine these into journeys of up to 26 nights, linking Eastern and Western Mediterranean itineraries seamlessly. The inaugural repositioning voyage departs Athens on November 28, 2026.

All-Inclusive Pricing and Onboard Experience

While Celestyal positions itself as boutique rather than ultra-luxury, the fare structure is straightforward: meals, soft drinks, WiFi, port fees, and gratuities are all included. This approach reduces friction for guests and allows them to focus on the destinations.

The winter 2026–2027 season will be followed by additional sailings in winter 2027–2028. Bookings are already open, and early planners are advised to secure preferred dates and cabins.

Celestyal's westward move reflects a broader industry trend toward expanded fleets and new itineraries as cruise lines respond to shifting traveler preferences. For agents and tour operators, the new Western Mediterranean offerings provide a fresh product to sell to clients seeking depth over breadth.
