Clinique La Prairie, the Swiss pioneer in longevity and preventive medicine since 1931, has confirmed plans to open its first health resort in Southeast Asia. The property, set within the Tri Vananda development on Phuket, Thailand, is scheduled to welcome guests in November 2026, marking a significant step in the brand's global expansion.

The move comes as the global wellness economy, valued at US$6.8 trillion in 2024, continues to grow, with Asia-Pacific ranking as the world's second-largest wellness market. For travel professionals, this signals a growing demand for medical and longevity tourism in the region, a segment that is increasingly influencing luxury hospitality offerings.

Facilities and programs

Clinique La Prairie Phuket will comprise 40 private pool villas, advanced clinical facilities, and a restaurant dedicated to longevity cuisine. The resort's signature Longevity Method involves a comprehensive assessment of more than 300 biomarkers to craft personalized health interventions. Guests can select from programs such as Reverse Ageing and Master Detox, each tailored to specific health objectives. Prices start at US$10,800 (CHF 9,900) for a three-day stay, positioning the resort firmly in the luxury medical travel segment.

The integration of medical expertise with nature-based experiences is intended to support guests' recovery and long-term health. This hybrid model—combining clinical rigor with resort amenities—is becoming a template for high-end wellness properties across Asia, as seen in other recent developments in the region.

Simone Gibertoni, CEO of Clinique La Prairie, said: "Clinique La Prairie Phuket marks a defining step in our international expansion and in our mission to bring world-class longevity medicine globally."

The Phuket resort is part of a broader strategy to establish longevity hubs worldwide. Clinique La Prairie also has plans for future openings in Saudi Arabia and other locations, indicating a sustained push into emerging luxury wellness markets.

For travel advisors and tour operators, the launch adds a new dimension to Thailand's already robust medical tourism sector. The country has long been a destination for elective procedures, but the arrival of a brand like Clinique La Prairie elevates the offering to preventive and longevity-focused care. This could attract a clientele seeking high-end health experiences, potentially boosting demand for premium air travel and luxury accommodation in Phuket.

Thailand's tourism infrastructure continues to evolve to meet such demand. The upcoming Royal Barge Procession in November 2026 is expected to draw international visitors, and the addition of a world-class health resort aligns with the country's push toward high-value tourism.

The development also reflects a broader trend of branded wellness and medical properties entering Southeast Asia. As branded residences surge across Southeast Asia, affluent buyers are seeking properties that offer more than just a place to stay—they want integrated health and lifestyle amenities. Clinique La Prairie's entry into Phuket is a prime example of this convergence.

For hoteliers and investors, the project underscores the viability of medical wellness as a differentiator in competitive markets. With its Swiss heritage and clinical credibility, Clinique La Prairie brings a level of authority that few competitors can match, potentially setting a new standard for luxury health resorts in the region.

As the wellness economy expands, destinations like Phuket are positioning themselves to capture a share of the high-spending medical traveler. The island's natural environment, combined with world-class infrastructure, makes it an attractive base for such ventures. The resort's location within Tri Vananda, a wellness-focused development, further enhances its appeal.

Travel professionals should monitor this development closely, as it may influence booking patterns for luxury travel to Thailand and inspire similar projects elsewhere in Asia. The combination of medical expertise and resort luxury is a compelling proposition for a growing segment of travelers who prioritize health and longevity.
