Hang Lung Properties has rolled out the third phase of its '66 and beyond' anniversary celebration with the '66 Let Loose Summer Carnival,' a two-month activation spanning 11 mixed-use commercial developments across mainland China. Running through July and August, the carnival aims to drive foot traffic and community engagement through a curated mix of pop-up markets, sports activities, and live music performances.

The carnival is structured around three core themes: 'Let's Play,' 'Let's Move,' and 'Let's Jam.' 'Let's Play' focuses on trendy summer markets designed to attract younger consumers seeking new lifestyle inspirations. 'Let's Move' emphasizes sports and wellness, promoting active living, while 'Let's Jam' features the 66 Summer Music Festival and Chinese Valentine's Day programs, showcasing well-known bands to strengthen cultural ties.

Key Events Across Properties

At Centre 66 in Wuxi, the Summer Lemon Party offers limited-edition desserts and interactive experiences. Parc 66 in Jinan will host the Qixi Music Festival, featuring popular bands and local stars. Olympia 66 in Dalian is organizing a craft beer festival with over 50 brewers, and Spring City 66 in Kunming will debut a mushroom-themed pop-up in collaboration with SUNNYMORE. These events are complemented by exclusive perks for HOUSE 66 members, including bonus points and gift offers.

Hang Lung's sustainability commitment is evident in the carnival's operations: 90% of its properties are powered by renewable energy, aligning with the company's net-zero goal by 2050. This initiative not only energizes local communities but also reinforces Hang Lung's position as a responsible developer in the retail and hospitality sectors.

For travel industry professionals, such activations highlight the growing importance of placemaking in mixed-use developments. Similar strategies are being employed by other players in the sector; for instance, View Boston’s Kids-Go-Free Summer Offer Targets Family Travel Demand and Legoland Hong Kong Debuts Ninjago Trials for Summer 2025 demonstrate how summer programming can boost visitation. Meanwhile, Puglia Tops 2026 Summer Rankings and Carnival Cruise Line Reveals Ace Class Prototype show the broader trend of seasonal offerings across destinations and cruise lines.

The carnival is part of Hang Lung's broader '66 and beyond' campaign, which celebrates the company's legacy while looking toward future growth. By integrating entertainment, retail, and community engagement, Hang Lung is setting a benchmark for how mixed-use developments can drive both commercial success and social value. For travel professionals, this model offers insights into how to create compelling experiences that attract both local consumers and tourists.
