Hilton has announced the signing of more than 2,000 new Hilton Garden Inn rooms across China, reinforcing its strategy to capture demand from both major business hubs and emerging leisure destinations. The expansion targets key cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, alongside scenic areas like Lushan and Yichun.

Strategic Expansion Across Business and Leisure Markets

The new properties, expected to open between 2026 and 2028, include the Hilton Garden Inn Beijing Future Science City, Guangzhou Huangpu Luogang Science City, Chengdu Tianfu Square Centre, Lushan Scenic Area, and Yichun Mingyueshan Wenquan Road. These hotels are designed to serve both corporate travelers and tourists, offering convenient access to industrial zones, cultural attractions, and natural landscapes.

Nong Xia, president of development for Greater China and Mongolia at Hilton, stated: “Over the past decade, Hilton Garden Inn has built a strong presence in China through localised innovation, earning the trust of owners and the market.” The brand’s Gen A prototype, tailored specifically for the Chinese market, has enhanced design and functionality to meet modern travelers’ needs, setting a new benchmark for upscale hospitality.

Hilton Garden Inn currently operates over 350 hotels in China and achieved 100 signings in 2025, the highest among international mid-market brands. The brand will continue to leverage its flexible operating models and strong development capabilities to drive growth and deliver value for owners and guests. All new hotels will participate in Hilton Honours, offering exclusive benefits to members.

This expansion aligns with broader trends in China’s travel industry, where domestic tourism continues to surge. For context, Fliggy Launches Tech-Focused Inbound Tours as China Bookings Surge 237% highlights the growing demand for curated travel experiences in the region.

Industry observers note that Hilton’s focus on both core cities and leisure destinations mirrors the shifting preferences of Chinese travelers, who increasingly seek a mix of business and leisure experiences. The new Hilton Garden Inn properties are expected to cater to this demand, providing consistent quality and service across diverse locations.

As the brand expands its footprint, it also faces competition from other international hotel groups. For instance, IHG Signs voco Udaipur with 140 Keys, Bolstering Premium Presence in Rajasthan shows similar growth strategies in other Asian markets. However, Hilton’s scale and localized approach give it a distinct advantage in China.

The new rooms will also support the growing MICE sector in China, as many of the properties are located near business districts and convention centers. This aligns with the broader trend of Cleveland Convention Centre Expands Urban Farm to Boost Sustainable MICE Offerings, though in a different market context.

With the addition of these 2,000+ rooms, Hilton Garden Inn strengthens its position as a leading mid-market brand in China, offering travelers reliable accommodations in both urban and leisure settings. The brand’s commitment to innovation and local relevance will be key to its continued success in one of the world’s fastest-growing travel markets.
