Pacific Place, the upscale shopping centre in Admiralty, has partnered with renowned Australian artist CJ Hendry to present Hong Kong's first large-scale juju experience. Running from 23 July to 16 August 2026, the event is produced in collaboration with creative house Pen & Paper and transforms the mall into an immersive world inspired by Hendry's collectible character, juju.
What travel professionals need to know
For hoteliers, tour operators, and MICE planners, this activation represents a growing trend in destination retail and entertainment: malls evolving into cultural attractions that draw both locals and international visitors. Pacific Place, managed by Swire Properties, is positioning itself as a summer hotspot that can drive foot traffic and extend dwell time—key metrics for adjacent hospitality and travel businesses.
The centrepiece is the juju Planet, surrounded by oversized trees and fluffy clouds, creating a multisensory adventure. Highlights include the Dreamy Swing, the Fluffy Hideaway filled with over 400 juju plushies, and the juju Infinity Mirror offering endless reflections. A two-metre-tall Giant juju installation provides photo opportunities that are likely to generate social media buzz—a valuable asset for destination marketing.
Hendry has also unveiled a Hong Kong-exclusive collection of juju collectibles. These limited-edition items, available in blind boxes, include nine standard versions and five secret versions, each housed in a shiny collectible tin. Visitors can personalise their juju with accessories from the Capsule Toy Station. Such exclusivity appeals to the growing segment of experience-driven travellers, particularly Gen Z and millennial consumers who prioritise unique, shareable moments over traditional souvenirs. This aligns with findings from a recent Agoda survey on Gen Z travel loyalty, which highlights a shift toward experience-led models.
Pacific Place is offering a Dreamlike Summer rewards programme, providing shopping eVouchers for accumulated same-day spending. UnionPay cardholders can enjoy additional rewards, with the promotion running concurrently with the juju world event. For travel agents and tour operators, this creates an opportunity to bundle shopping incentives with Hong Kong itineraries, especially for clients seeking luxury retail experiences.
CJ Hendry, known for her hyperrealistic drawings and immersive installations, brings her unique artistic vision to Hong Kong. The event underscores how retail destinations are increasingly collaborating with artists to create compelling narratives that attract both leisure and business travellers. As quiet luxury trends reshape hospitality design, such place-based experiences become more relevant for industry professionals looking to differentiate their offerings.
For airlines like Cathay Pacific, which operates a major hub in Hong Kong, this event adds to the city's appeal as a summer destination. The timing—late July to mid-August—coincides with peak travel season, potentially boosting visitor numbers. Pacific Place's proximity to hotels such as the JW Marriott Hong Kong and the Island Shangri-La makes it an easy add-on for guests.
Industry stakeholders should note that this is not just a consumer event but a strategic play in destination marketing. By blending art, retail, and rewards, Pacific Place is creating a model that could be replicated in other Asian markets. For MICE planners, the juju experience offers a unique venue for corporate events or client entertainment, with the mall's existing facilities and transport links via Admiralty MTR station.
