Qatar Airways is set to operate a network of more than 160 destinations during the Northern Hemisphere summer 2026 season, resuming services to 26 markets as part of a broad capacity restoration. The Doha-based carrier, which was named World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2025, is rebuilding its schedule after a period of reduced operations that began in March 2026.

The airline reported an on-time performance of 84.42% in 2025, underscoring its operational reliability. Its hub at Hamad International Airport (DOH) continues to offer streamlined connections and a range of passenger amenities, positioning the airport as a key transit point for long-haul travellers.

New and resumed routes across four continents

The summer expansion touches Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe. In Africa, Qatar Airways is adding Kigali (Rwanda), Seychelles, and Marrakesh (Morocco) to its network. These additions strengthen the carrier’s presence on the continent, where demand for premium and leisure travel is growing.

In the Americas, the airline is increasing frequencies to several US cities that will host matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026, including Los Angeles (LAX) and Miami (MIA). This move aligns with anticipated inbound traffic from the Middle East and Asia. In Asia, the carrier is returning to Adelaide (Australia), Osaka (Japan), and Tokyo Haneda (HND), restoring key links for business and leisure passengers.

European routes are also being reinforced, though specific city pairs were not detailed in the announcement. The overall schedule reflects a deliberate strategy to recapture market share in high-yield corridors.

Starlink Wi-Fi rollout and loyalty programme enhancements

Qatar Airways continues to differentiate itself through inflight connectivity. The airline now offers high-speed Wi-Fi via Starlink on more than 140 aircraft, making it the first and largest widebody fleet equipped with the satellite-based service. This capability is increasingly important for business travellers and premium passengers who require reliable internet during flights.

The carrier’s loyalty programme, Privilege Club, allows members to earn and spend Avios across flights and partner services. As competition intensifies in the Gulf region, loyalty benefits remain a key tool for retaining frequent flyers.

For travel professionals, the expanded schedule presents new opportunities for corporate contracts, group bookings, and leisure packages. Agents and tour operators should note the increased US frequencies ahead of the World Cup, as well as the resumption of services to secondary Asian cities like Adelaide and Osaka.

Qatar Airways advises passengers to check its website or mobile app for the latest flight timings, as schedules may be adjusted due to operational or regulatory factors. Bookings can be made directly through the airline’s digital channels.

In related developments, Qatar’s Hala Summer 2026 campaign is targeting GCC families with waterpark promotions, complementing the airline’s network growth. Meanwhile, APAC hotels are outperforming globally with record rate growth, a trend that may benefit Qatar Airways’ Asian routes. For travel agents, KeyData’s appointment of Scott McLeod as President signals continued investment in travel technology solutions.
