Seabourn has confirmed a 30-day Amazon Explorer Rivers & Rainforests voyage aboard the Seabourn Quest, scheduled to depart Miami on 18 November 2028 and return on 18 December. The roundtrip sailing will call at 15 destinations across seven countries, combining deep Amazon River cruising with Caribbean and South American port stops.

The voyage is part of Seabourn's Ruby Jubilee, celebrating the ultra-luxury line's 40th anniversary. It offers travel advisors and their clients a rare opportunity to explore one of the planet's most biodiverse regions in the brand's signature all-inclusive style.

Itinerary highlights and cultural immersion

The itinerary includes scenic cruising along the Amazon River, with calls at Santarém, Boca da Valeria, and Parintins in Brazil. These stops provide access to remote riverside communities and vibrant local traditions, including the famous Boi-Bumbá festival in Parintins.

A centerpiece of the journey is an overnight stay in Manaus, the Amazon's largest city, known for its historic opera house, bustling markets, and the confluence of the Rio Negro and Solimões rivers. Guests will have time to explore the city's landmarks and engage with its cultural scene.

Beyond the Amazon, the ship will visit Devil's Island in French Guiana, a former penal colony with a haunting history, and Caribbean destinations such as Saint Barthélemy, Trinidad, and Grenada. This mix of remote river cruising and island hopping adds variety to the expedition.

Onboard experience and enrichment

Seabourn Quest is known for its intimate atmosphere, with all oceanfront suites and personalized service. The voyage will feature the Seabourn Conversations enrichment programme, bringing in experts to discuss the region's ecology, history, and cultures.

Mark Tamis, President of Seabourn, said: "Seabourn Quest will take guests into the heart of the Amazon to discover its extraordinary landscapes, cultures, and traditions." The line is positioning this as a once-in-a-lifetime expedition for luxury travelers seeking authentic experiences.

Following the Amazon voyage, Seabourn Quest will operate two 10-day Caribbean holiday cruises before embarking on a 138-day World Cruise in January 2029. This extended deployment underscores Seabourn's commitment to long-haul expedition cruising.

For travel advisors, this voyage represents a high-value booking opportunity, particularly for clients interested in Amazon exploration options. The 2028 departure also aligns with growing demand for sustainable and immersive travel experiences in South America.

Seabourn's announcement comes as the cruise industry expands its expedition offerings. Competitors like Oceania's Regatta are also launching lengthy world cruises, indicating a trend toward longer, more immersive itineraries.

The Amazon voyage is expected to appeal to seasoned cruisers who have already explored more conventional routes. With its combination of remote river ports and Caribbean beach stops, it offers a balanced itinerary that maximizes both adventure and relaxation.

Seabourn has not yet released pricing, but the line's ultra-luxury positioning suggests a premium fare. Early booking incentives are likely, given the popularity of such expedition voyages.
