Sentosa Golf Club has named Brett Saggus as its new Golf Course Superintendent, a move that strengthens the club’s agronomy leadership as it continues to host elite international tournaments. Saggus, an Australian agronomy professional, joins from BRG Group in Vietnam, where he managed multiple properties. He succeeds Rodney McKeown and brings extensive expertise in agronomy operations, tropical turf management, and tournament preparation.

High-Profile Tournament Experience

The appointment follows a demanding period for Sentosa, which staged the HSBC Women's World Championship, LIV Golf Singapore, and the Singapore Open over eight consecutive weeks. Saggus was actively involved in these events, gaining firsthand insight into the club’s operational standards. His experience in managing championship-level courses will be critical as Sentosa maintains its reputation as a premier golf destination in Asia.

“I feel very fortunate to step into this role and follow in the footsteps of Rodney McKeown who did an outstanding job and left the operation in exceptional shape,” Saggus said. He emphasized his commitment to innovation and meaningful improvements, noting that the club’s investment in technology and sustainability aligns with his own approach.

Leadership and Development

Andy Johnston, General Manager and Director of Agronomy, praised Saggus’s appointment. “Brett brings exactly the experience and mindset we were looking for,” Johnston said. Saggus will also contribute to Sentosa’s Agronomy Superintendent Programme, which aims to develop future turf professionals. This initiative reflects the club’s focus on nurturing talent within the industry.

Sentosa Golf Club, recognized as a Toro Centre of Excellence in Asia, continues to invest in performance technology and innovation. The club is renowned for its commitment to sustainability and excellence, maintaining championship-standard playing surfaces year-round. For travel professionals, this appointment signals Sentosa’s ongoing dedication to delivering world-class golf experiences, which is a key draw for luxury travelers and MICE groups seeking premium leisure options in Singapore.
