Visit Qatar has unveiled a targeted promotion for Saudi National Day, offering travellers from the Kingdom up to 40% off selected hotel stays in Doha. The offer, bookable through the Saudi OTA Almosafer from 10 to 27 September, is designed to encourage short-break travel during the holiday period, when many Saudis seek nearby leisure options.
Qatar’s proximity to Saudi Arabia makes it a convenient escape. Visitors can drive across the Abu Samra border or fly into Hamad International Airport (DOH), which is served by Qatar Airways and other carriers. Saudi nationals enjoy visa-free entry, a privilege shared by citizens of 102 other countries, simplifying last-minute planning.
What’s on offer
The discount applies to a range of hotels, from luxury properties to family-friendly resorts, though the full list of participating properties has not been disclosed. Travel agents and corporate bookers can access the rates through Almosafer’s platform, which is integrated with major GDS systems, making it easy to bundle with flights or add-ons.
For Saudi travellers, the appeal extends beyond the discount. Doha’s attractions include climate-controlled venues such as Old Mina Port, West Walk, and Al Hazm Mall, which offer shopping and dining in comfort. For a more traditional experience, Souq Waqif’s alleyways and restaurants provide a taste of local culture, while Katara Cultural Village showcases art and architecture along the waterfront.
Families can head to Doha Quest, an indoor theme park featuring the region’s tallest indoor roller coaster, or Meryal Waterpark, which boasts the world’s tallest waterslide tower. These venues are particularly attractive during the warmer months, when indoor options are in high demand.
September events calendar
September is a busy month for events in Qatar. The ColourVerse exhibition at Katara Cultural Village runs until 15 September, and the QTerminals Qatar Classic Squash 2026 takes place from 12 to 18 September. Live performances include Egyptian singer Taha Desouky at Al Mayassa Theatre on 17 September and Lebanese artist John Achkar at Abdulaziz Nasser Theatre on 25 September. The Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition 2026 opens on 28 September, attracting luxury brands and affluent shoppers.
This promotion aligns with Qatar’s broader strategy to boost regional tourism, particularly from the GCC. The country has invested heavily in infrastructure and entertainment to position itself as a year-round destination, and offers like this are part of that push.
For travel professionals, the campaign represents an opportunity to capture demand from Saudi outbound travellers, a segment that is growing rapidly. According to recent forecasts, Saudi leisure travel is expected to surge by 93% by 2030, outpacing global growth. Agents can leverage this offer to build packages that combine flights, hotels, and experiences, especially for families and groups.
Visit Qatar’s move also underscores the importance of regional partnerships. By working with Almosafer, the national tourism body is tapping into a well-established distribution channel that reaches millions of Saudi travellers. Similar collaborations have been seen across the Gulf, as destinations compete for a share of the lucrative GCC outbound market.
