Singapore-based multi-currency wallet YouTrip is marking a surge in travel to South Korea by giving away 100 flights to the destination. The promotion, running from 28 October to 31 December 2026, reflects a 15% year-on-year increase in YouTrip users heading to South Korea, with the fastest growth coming from travellers aged 60 and above, up 25%.

Campaign details and entry mechanics

Both new and existing YouTrip users can participate. New users must download the app and sign up using a promo code, while existing users can enter by tapping “Join now” on the in-app banner and spending at least S$500 with their YouTrip card. Additionally, users can earn three extra entries for each YouTrip Family Child Account created during the campaign period.

YouTrip will announce 31 winners on 31 December 2026, each receiving three flight tickets to South Korea. The remaining seven tickets will be distributed through upcoming social media initiatives, extending the campaign's reach.

South Korea's growing appeal across generations

The giveaway underscores South Korea's rising popularity among diverse demographics. Beyond seniors, the country ranks as the third most popular overseas destination for children aged 7 to 18 using YouTrip cards through the newly launched YouTrip Family. This aligns with broader trends in the Asia-Pacific region, where South Korea is seeing a strong recovery in arrivals, nearing pre-pandemic levels.

Hospitality groups are also responding to this demand. For instance, Series by Marriott has opened three new properties in South Korea, while Marriott Bonvoy and Samsung Card have launched a premium co-branded card in the market, catering to frequent travellers.

Strategic implications for travel industry

YouTrip's campaign is a clear signal of the company's commitment to enhancing travel experiences and capitalising on South Korea's growing popularity. For travel professionals, this highlights the importance of targeting senior travellers, a segment often overlooked in favour of younger demographics. The 25% growth among seniors suggests a lucrative market for tailored packages and services.

Moreover, the integration of family travel features, such as YouTrip Family, indicates a trend towards multi-generational travel. Tour operators and agents should consider bundling flights, accommodation, and experiences that appeal to both older and younger travellers, potentially leveraging partnerships with fintech platforms like YouTrip.

As South Korea continues to attract visitors, airlines and hotels may see increased demand on routes from Singapore and other Southeast Asian hubs. The shared ground planning initiatives in Southeast Asia could further facilitate this growth, improving connectivity and visitor experiences.

YouTrip's giveaway is not just a consumer promotion; it's a data-driven move that reveals shifting travel patterns. For industry stakeholders, monitoring such fintech-led campaigns can provide valuable insights into consumer behaviour and emerging market segments.
