Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi has once again transformed its indoor theme park on Yas Island into a Halloween destination with the return of Spooktober, running through 1 November. The event, now in its latest edition, brings together more than 60 characters, live stage productions, and a series of seasonal overlays across the park's six immersive lands.
This year's centerpiece is Scooby-Doo and the Full Moon Carnival, staged at the Warner Bros. Plaza Stage. The show follows Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang as they stumble into a carnival filled with circus acts, culminating in a musical finale. The production is designed to appeal to families and younger visitors, blending humor with the classic mystery-solving formula that has made the franchise a global favorite.
Seasonal makeovers across DC and Looney Tunes worlds
Spooktober extends beyond the Plaza, with Metropolis and Gotham City receiving their own Halloween-themed transformations. DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains zones are decked out with eerie lighting and props, offering photo opportunities and character encounters. In Bedrock, The Flintstones and The Rubbles host the Yabba-Dabba-Boo meet-and-greet, while Cartoon Junction welcomes Looney Tunes characters in seasonal attire.
Young visitors can participate in a candy hunt, picking up a trick-or-treat bag and map at the park entrance. The activity is designed to guide families through the various lands, encouraging exploration and interaction with the seasonal décor.
Popular attractions have also received a spooky twist. Scooby-Doo: The Museum of Mysteries and The Joker Funhouse now feature Halloween-themed elements, adding to the immersive experience. Dining options have been updated to match the theme, with Big Belly Burger in Metropolis and Hall of Doom in Gotham City offering special menus.
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, operated by Miral, is the region's largest indoor theme park. The property has become a key component of Yas Island's entertainment offering, which also includes Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, and the upcoming SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. The park's ability to rotate seasonal events like Spooktober is part of a broader strategy to drive repeat visitation among both tourists and residents.
For travel professionals, the event underscores the growing importance of themed entertainment in the UAE's tourism ecosystem. Yas Island has positioned itself as a year-round destination, with hotels such as the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island and the Yas Viceroy offering packages that include park access. The island's proximity to Abu Dhabi International Airport and its connection to the wider emirate's tourism push make it a viable option for family-oriented itineraries.
Spooktober also aligns with the region's broader autumn calendar, which includes events like the autumn festivities at InterContinental Chiang Mai and the festive offerings at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi. These seasonal activations are increasingly used by hotels and attractions to boost occupancy and drive ancillary revenue during the shoulder season.
The event runs daily until 1 November, with tickets available through the park's official channels. For agents and tour operators, the park offers group rates and trade partnerships, making it a viable component for UAE packages. The combination of live entertainment, character interactions, and themed dining positions Spooktober as a key driver for family travel during the Halloween period.
As the UAE continues to invest in its entertainment infrastructure, events like Spooktober are likely to play a larger role in attracting international visitors. The park's ability to refresh its content seasonally is a model that other destination operators may look to replicate, particularly in markets where theme parks are a primary draw.
