Bespoke Hotels, one of the UK's largest independent hotel groups, has entered a strategic partnership with Aven Hospitality to overhaul its reservations and distribution infrastructure. The collaboration will see Aven Hospitality deploy the SynXis platform across all 58 Bespoke properties, which together account for 3,350 rooms, in a move designed to centralise booking management and strengthen the group's direct-to-consumer channel.
The agreement extends beyond core reservation technology. Bespoke Hotels will also tap Aven Hospitality's digital marketing and retailing capabilities, aiming to attract higher-quality demand and reduce reliance on third-party intermediaries. For a collection that prides itself on the individual character of each independently owned hotel, the challenge is to balance operational consistency with preserving each property's distinct identity.
Thomas Greenall, CEO of Bespoke Hotels, framed the partnership as a growth enabler. "Our partnership with Aven Hospitality will help us strengthen distribution, make it easier for guests to book directly, and create more opportunities for our hotels to grow," he said.
SynXis suite to unify direct and indirect channels
Bespoke Hotels will deploy the full range of Aven Hospitality's SynXis tools, including the Central Reservation System, Booking Engine, GDS Distribution, Retailing, and Digital Marketing modules. The integration is expected to streamline back-office operations, improve access to corporate travel buyers and travel management companies, and enhance the group's merchandising and digital acquisition efforts.
For independent hotel groups, competing with global chains often comes down to technology parity. Claudine Gardner, Head of Commercial EMEA at Aven Hospitality, emphasised that point. "By unifying direct and indirect distribution backed by the power of SynXis CRS, we're helping Bespoke Hotels centralise management, strengthen performance, and create new opportunities for growth," she said.
The move reflects a broader trend among independent hoteliers to invest in technology that can level the playing field. As distribution partnerships expand across regions, the ability to manage inventory seamlessly across channels becomes a competitive differentiator.
Bespoke's portfolio spans city-centre properties and country retreats, with a strong presence in London and regional hubs. The group has historically positioned itself as a home for independent owners who want to retain autonomy while benefiting from shared services. This partnership is an investment in that model, with the SynXis platform expected to deliver a more seamless booking experience for guests and more efficient revenue management for owners.
The commercial implications are significant. Direct bookings typically yield higher margins and greater control over the guest relationship. By improving its direct channel, Bespoke Hotels can reduce commission costs and gather richer guest data, which in turn can inform personalised marketing and loyalty initiatives.
Industry observers will watch how the rollout progresses across the 58 properties, given the operational complexity of integrating a central reservation system across a diverse portfolio. Aven Hospitality's track record with independent groups and its EMEA presence were likely key factors in the selection.
The partnership also signals confidence in the UK hospitality market, which has shown resilience despite economic headwinds. As hotel groups expand across Asia and other regions, the UK's independent sector is investing in technology to defend its market share.
For travel agents and corporate buyers, the GDS distribution component means Bespoke Hotels will be more accessible through traditional booking channels, potentially opening up new corporate accounts. The retailing tools will also allow the group to upsell ancillary services, from spa treatments to dining packages, increasing revenue per available room.
Bespoke Hotels' decision to partner with Aven Hospitality rather than build in-house underscores the growing importance of specialised technology vendors in the hospitality sector. As AI and automation reshape travel planning, hoteliers are looking for platforms that can adapt to changing consumer behaviour.
The partnership is effective immediately, with implementation expected to proceed across the portfolio in phases. No financial terms were disclosed.
