FCM Travel, the corporate travel division of Flight Centre Travel Group, is deepening its footprint in Greater China with the launch of dedicated Meetings & Events (M&E) services in Hong Kong. The move follows a fiscal year in which FCM's M&E business nearly doubled, underscoring the company's confidence in the region's corporate events market.
The expansion positions FCM to serve Hong Kong-based businesses with end-to-end event management, from venue sourcing and group travel to managed meetings and incentive programs. All services are underpinned by FCM's proprietary technology platform, which provides clients with real-time data, spend visibility, and compliance controls across their event portfolios.
Hong Kong's MICE momentum
Hong Kong's MICE sector has been on a steady upward trajectory, welcoming 2.51 million visitors in 2025—a 7% increase year-on-year. The city's status as a premier business events hub in Asia-Pacific makes it a strategic launchpad for FCM's expanded offerings. The company aims to capture demand from multinational corporations and local enterprises seeking more intentional, ROI-driven meetings and events.
Leading the new Hong Kong operation is Peter Chau, appointed as Meetings & Events Manager effective 1 September 2026. Chau brings over three decades of MICE experience, including recognition as a Switzerland M.I.C.E. Specialist and an Individual Award from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. His mandate is to grow FCM's client base and deliver events that align with corporate objectives.
“Businesses are becoming more intentional about how and why they bring people together and increasingly expect their meetings and events to deliver tangible value,” said Manpreet Bindra, FCM Meetings & Events Leader, Asia.
Chau echoed that sentiment, adding, “I look forward to working closely with clients to understand what they want to achieve and drawing on my experience to deliver events that meet their business objectives and create a lasting impact.”
The Hong Kong expansion is part of FCM's broader strategy to strengthen its M&E capabilities across Asia. The company already operates M&E teams in key markets including Singapore, Australia, and India, and has been investing in technology to streamline event planning and execution. This latest move aligns with industry trends where endurance events and race-cations are reshaping how companies approach incentive travel and team-building.
FCM's technology stack includes tools for attendee management, budgeting, and post-event analytics, giving corporate clients a single dashboard to monitor all M&E activities. The company also leverages its global network to source venues and negotiate rates, a key advantage for multinational firms with events across multiple countries.
Hong Kong's MICE appeal is further bolstered by government initiatives and infrastructure investments, such as the expanded AsiaWorld-Expo and the new Kai Tak Sports Park. These developments are expected to attract more international conferences and exhibitions, creating a fertile ground for FCM's services.
Industry observers note that the M&E sector is rebounding strongly post-pandemic, with companies increasingly viewing face-to-face events as critical for relationship building and business development. FCM's expansion into Hong Kong positions it to capitalize on this rebound, offering clients a blend of local expertise and global reach.
For travel agents and corporate travel managers, FCM's enhanced M&E offering in Hong Kong provides an additional channel for booking and managing events, potentially simplifying the procurement process. The company's focus on data-driven insights also appeals to CFOs seeking to justify event spend.
As Hong Kong continues to solidify its role as a leading MICE destination, FCM's investment signals confidence in the city's long-term prospects. With Peter Chau at the helm, the company is well-placed to capture a share of the growing demand for high-quality, strategic meetings and events in Greater China.
