The Orient Express Corinthian, the largest sailing yacht ever built, has officially commenced its Caribbean season, arriving in Bridgetown, Barbados, after a transatlantic crossing from Lisbon. The vessel will operate a series of luxury cruises across the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Florida from October 2026 through spring 2027, continuing the Orient Express tradition of making the journey itself a centerpiece of the experience.

Itineraries and destinations

The yacht's itineraries connect key island destinations, including the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Saint Martin, and Puerto Rico. A notable five-night voyage in January 2027 will take passengers from Marigot, Saint-Martin, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, with calls at St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua, and Virgin Gorda. These routes are designed to appeal to luxury travelers seeking both relaxation and exploration in the Caribbean's most coveted waters.

Onboard experience and design

Designed by Maxime d'Angeac, the 220-meter yacht features 54 suites, all with panoramic sea views and dedicated butler service. Culinary direction is led by 18-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, with five restaurants and eight bars offering a range of dining experiences. Additional amenities include a Guerlain Spa, an amphitheater, and a suspended swimming lane, positioning the Corinthian as a floating resort for discerning guests.

Innovative wind technology

The Corinthian is equipped with three SolidSail rigs and hybrid LNG propulsion, showcasing significant advances in wind-powered maritime technology. This hybrid system reduces fuel consumption and emissions, aligning with the cruise industry's growing focus on sustainability. The vessel's wind-assisted design is a talking point for travel professionals monitoring eco-friendly innovations in cruise operations.

Caribbean voyages start at $6,400 (€6,000) per night, with bookings available at orient-express.com. The pricing reflects the yacht's ultra-luxury positioning, comparable to other high-end expedition and sailing vessels in the region. For context, Aman at Sea has extended its Amangati Caribbean season into 2028, indicating sustained demand for premium sea travel in the area.

The launch of the Corinthian's Caribbean program comes as the cruise sector sees robust performance. Royal Caribbean recently beat Q3 forecasts and lifted its 2026 outlook, underscoring the industry's resilience. The Corinthian's unique selling points—wind propulsion, Michelin dining, and intimate scale—differentiate it from mainstream cruise offerings, appealing to a niche but affluent clientele.

Travel advisors and luxury tour operators are likely to find the Corinthian an attractive option for clients seeking exclusive, experiential voyages. The yacht's small capacity (54 suites) ensures a high crew-to-guest ratio, and the inclusion of a Guerlain Spa and gourmet dining enhances its appeal as a floating boutique hotel. As the Caribbean season progresses, the Corinthian is set to become a benchmark for wind-assisted luxury cruising.

For hoteliers and destination marketers, the Corinthian's presence in ports like Bridgetown and Marigot could boost local tourism, as passengers often combine cruises with pre- or post-stays. The yacht's itineraries also highlight lesser-known islands, potentially diversifying visitor flows. With the recent growth in luxury hotel portfolios, the synergy between high-end accommodations and cruise experiences is becoming more pronounced.

As the Orient Express Corinthian begins its Caribbean season, it combines luxury and adventure, offering passengers a distinctive approach to sea travel. The vessel's innovative technology and world-class amenities are set to redefine expectations for sailing yachts, and its impact on the region's tourism landscape will be closely watched by industry stakeholders.
