Sea Cloud Cruises has appointed Jana Woczikowski as its global marketing director, a newly created position that consolidates the luxury sailing line's marketing leadership under one executive. Based in Hamburg, Woczikowski will oversee the company's international marketing strategy, with a mandate to sharpen brand consistency across all key source markets.
Woczikowski brings a blend of luxury hospitality and cruise experience to the role. She previously held senior marketing positions at Lanserhof Group, a premium health and wellness resort operator, and at TUI Cruises, where she worked on brand and campaign development for the German cruise market. Her background aligns with Sea Cloud's focus on heritage-rich, small-ship experiences.
Owner's Representative Ralph de Klijn explained the decision to recruit Woczikowski directly: “We did not wait for Jana to find us, we went looking for her. She understands how a brand with heritage is built and protected.” The comment underscores the line's intention to treat its legacy as a strategic asset rather than a static identity.
Aligning global and regional marketing
While Woczikowski will lead global strategy from Hamburg, Sea Cloud's U.S. office will continue to manage travel adviser relationships and consumer outreach across North America. She will work closely with Kevin Smith, president of the Americas, to ensure regional campaigns are aligned with the overarching global direction. This dual structure is designed to maintain local market agility while presenting a unified brand face internationally.
Woczikowski described Sea Cloud Cruises as “one of the most iconic names in small-ship cruising” and pointed to the brand's heritage and authenticity as its core strengths. Her priorities include raising the line's international profile and attracting a new generation of travellers to its sailing yachts, which combine classic maritime tradition with modern comfort.
The appointment comes as Sea Cloud prepares to welcome its flagship yacht back from drydock. The vessel's return is expected to be a focal point for the brand's marketing push in the coming season. The company has been investing in brand-building initiatives across Europe and North America, and the new role is part of that broader effort.
Industry observers note that the move reflects a wider trend among smaller cruise operators to professionalize marketing leadership as competition intensifies. While large lines often rely on volume-driven campaigns, boutique players like Sea Cloud must differentiate through storytelling and niche positioning. Woczikowski's experience in both luxury hospitality and cruise marketing positions her to lead that effort.
Sea Cloud Cruises operates a fleet of tall ships and yachts, offering itineraries in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and other regions. The brand is known for its sailing heritage and intimate onboard atmosphere, with a focus on destination immersion. The new marketing structure is expected to support growth in existing markets while opening doors in emerging ones.
For travel advisers, the continuity of the U.S. sales team under Kevin Smith should provide reassurance that trade relationships remain a priority. Woczikowski's global role is unlikely to disrupt existing booking channels, but it may bring more cohesive marketing collateral and campaign support for agents.
The cruise industry has seen a wave of executive appointments as lines reposition for post-pandemic demand. Sea Cloud's decision to centralize marketing leadership is a strategic step to ensure its heritage brand resonates with both loyal cruisers and new audiences. With the flagship returning from drydock and a new marketing chief in place, the line is positioning itself for a stronger presence in the luxury small-ship segment.
