Amadeus has begun rolling out Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, adding an AI-powered assistant directly into the Amadeus Selling Platform Connect. The tool is designed to cut through the operational friction that travel agents face when handling complex airline tariffs, deciphering Passenger Name Record (PNR) histories, and building Smart Flow automation.
The deployment comes as agencies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman look to reduce manual workloads and shift staff time toward higher-value client interactions. By embedding guidance directly into the agent's workflow, Amadeus Max aims to accelerate booking tasks, reduce error rates, and deliver more consistent service across teams.
What the AI assistant does
Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers is not a standalone chatbot but a contextual layer within the selling platform. It interprets the often cryptic fare rules issued by carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, and flydubai, translating them into plain-language guidance. It also reads PNR histories to quickly surface the status of bookings, changes, and refunds, which can otherwise require multiple screens and deep expertise.
The tool also streamlines the creation of Smart Flow — Amadeus' automation feature that lets agencies script repetitive tasks. Instead of manually configuring each step, agents can use natural-language prompts to build flows, reducing setup time and the risk of errors.
Ernesto Sánchez Beaumont, Managing Director of Amadeus Gulf, said in a statement: “The introduction of Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers reflects our commitment to equipping the travel trade with intelligent tools that simplify complexity, improve productivity, and allow agents to focus on delivering more meaningful traveller experiences.”
Amadeus has been steadily integrating AI across its portfolio. Earlier this year, the company expanded its hotel distribution capabilities through a partnership with HyperGuest, and it has applied Microsoft Azure OpenAI technologies to corporate travel booking and hotel business intelligence. The Gulf rollout of Amadeus Max is the latest step in that strategy, reinforcing the company's position as a provider of next-generation travel retailing infrastructure.
For travel sellers in the GCC, the immediate benefit is a shorter learning curve for new agents and a productivity boost for experienced ones. Complex itineraries involving multiple airlines, stopovers, and fare families — common in the region's premium and long-haul markets — are where the AI assistant is expected to have the most impact.
Amadeus says the tool will also help agencies maintain service consistency as they scale, particularly for those handling corporate travel programs or luxury leisure bookings where accuracy and speed are critical. The company sees AI as a core enabler of the future travel retailing model, where agents act more as advisors than order-takers.
The rollout in the Gulf follows similar AI initiatives across the travel technology sector. For example, Trip.Biz recently launched its own AI suite for corporate travel management, and Agoda has begun testing an AI trip planning assistant. Amadeus' approach differs in that it is embedded within the existing agent desktop, rather than a separate consumer-facing feature.
As the GCC travel market continues to expand — driven by aviation hubs in Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi, plus major tourism investments in Saudi Arabia — the demand for efficient agency tools is likely to grow. Amadeus Max is positioned to meet that demand, giving agents the ability to handle more complex requests without adding headcount.
Travel agencies in the region can expect the tool to be available through their existing Amadeus subscriptions, with no additional hardware or software installation required. Amadeus has not disclosed pricing or a phased rollout schedule, but the company says it will be made available to all Gulf agencies in the coming months.
