Celebrity Cruises has opened reservations for the inaugural season of Celebrity Xcite, the sixth vessel in its Edge Series. The ship will enter service in the Caribbean in 2028, part of the line's largest deployment ever in the region, with nine ships positioned across multiple homeports.
The 2028–2029 programme features departures from four Florida ports: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Port Canaveral. Celebrity Xcite will operate seven-night round-trip sailings from Miami, calling at St Thomas, Antigua, and the British Virgin Islands, among other destinations.
“With the debut of Celebrity Xcite and more Edge Series ships in the Caribbean than ever before, our 2028 and 2029 season gives guests more ways to experience the destinations they love,” said Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises.
Expanded Edge Series offerings
The new season also marks a strategic shift for the Edge Series, introducing its first short-break itineraries. Celebrity Beyond will offer three-night weekend escapes from Fort Lauderdale, targeting the growing demand for quick getaways among North American travellers.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Silhouette will run new eight- to twelve-night summer voyages to the Southern Caribbean, giving the line its first full summer season in that subregion. These longer sailings are designed to appeal to guests seeking deeper exploration of islands such as Curaçao, Barbados, and Grenada.
For those preferring extended holidays, Celebrity Ascent will offer nine- to twelve-night itineraries calling at Grand Cayman and Aruba. Celebrity Reflection will maintain its year-round Caribbean presence from Fort Lauderdale, ensuring continuity for repeat guests.
The expanded roster reflects Celebrity's broader strategy to capture a wider share of the Caribbean cruise market, which remains the world's busiest cruise region. With more ships and more departure points, the line aims to offer greater flexibility for both leisure travellers and the trade partners who book them.
Bookings for winter 2028–2029 Caribbean sailings opened on 3 November 2026. Summer 2028 itineraries will be released for sale from 9 December 2026. Travel advisors can access the full schedule through the line's booking platforms.
Celebrity's move comes as other cruise operators also expand their Caribbean offerings. For instance, Orient Express Corinthian's new wind-tech sailings highlight the region's growing appeal for premium and expedition-style cruising. Meanwhile, Navigator of the Seas' Asia season shows how lines are diversifying geographically, though the Caribbean remains a core market.
With the addition of Celebrity Xcite, the Edge Series now spans six ships, all featuring the line's signature outward-facing design and elevated dining concepts. The vessel is currently under construction at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and is scheduled for delivery in late 2027.
Celebrity Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group, has been progressively modernising its fleet. The Edge Series, introduced in 2018 with Celebrity Edge, has been a commercial success, and the line is betting on its continued appeal as it pushes into the late 2020s.
For travel professionals, the extended booking window — nearly two years ahead of the first sailing — provides ample time to market the new itineraries to clients. The line has also indicated that group bookings and charter opportunities will be available for the new ship.
As the Caribbean cruise market becomes increasingly competitive, Celebrity's expanded deployment is a clear signal of its intent to maintain leadership in the premium segment. With more ships, more itineraries, and more departure options, the line is positioning itself to meet evolving traveller preferences.
