FCM Travel has rolled out a new AI-driven conversational booking capability within its proprietary FCM Booking platform, enabling corporate travelers to arrange trips using natural language prompts. The tool, powered by FCM's intelligence layer known as Sam, interprets a traveler's needs and returns tailored options that respect their company's travel policy, personal profile, past itineraries, loyalty status, and preferred routes.

The feature is designed to meet travelers where they already work, integrating with Microsoft Teams, Slack, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. This means bookings can be completed without leaving the digital environment users are accustomed to, which FCM expects will boost in-programme booking rates and improve data capture—without forcing travelers to change their habits.

Trust through transparency

Jessica Dunderdale, Global Head of Product at FCM Travel, stressed that trust is the cornerstone of the new system. “Conversational booking only works if travellers trust what they're being shown, and that trust comes from context, not just convenience,” she said. To that end, every AI-generated recommendation includes a clear explanation of why it was suggested, giving travelers visibility into the logic behind each option.

The intelligence layer also strengthens FCM's reporting and analytics, offering real-time visibility into spend, compliance, and potential disruption risks. Travel managers can use these insights to make decisions that align with their organization's broader business objectives.

John Morhous, Chief Experience Officer at FCM Travel, highlighted the balance between automation and human expertise. “Travellers get speed from tech and expertise from our consultants - they shouldn't have to choose between the two,” he said. The new feature is part of FCM's ongoing investment in its global travel management services, which serve clients across aviation, hospitality, and corporate travel sectors.

The move reflects a broader industry trend toward AI-assisted booking tools. Earlier this year, Emirates integrated Cryptocom Pay for UAE flight bookings, and Skyscanner data shows culture now drives most Indian holiday bookings, indicating how technology and traveler preferences are reshaping the market.

For travel management companies, the ability to offer conversational booking could become a differentiator. FCM's approach emphasizes that AI should augment—not replace—the human touch that corporate clients often value, especially for complex itineraries or duty-of-care situations.

As the platform evolves, FCM plans to expand the conversational capabilities to more languages and regions, ensuring that travelers worldwide can benefit from the same seamless experience. The company is also exploring additional integrations with other communication and productivity tools.

Travel professionals watching the corporate booking space will note that FCM's launch signals a shift toward more intuitive, AI-first interfaces. With the new feature, FCM aims to reduce friction in the booking process while maintaining the rigor of policy compliance and the reassurance of human support when needed.
